Hello from Baton Rouge, LA!

I'm new to the charcoal world. Just picked up a Weber Performer off craigslist which included 140lbs of Kingsford Orginal.

Been lurking around here for a good bit picking up on a few things and ready to learn more. You guys remind me of the Jeep community and I like that.

Here is the new to me grill....

Here is my jeep...

Rob, please wave at EVERY Jeep owner that drives by you;)
but you already know that...

Great looking Jeep!
And great-looking Weber!
Owned more Webers than Jeeps, but enjoyed everyone tremendously!!
Welcome to your new family:wsm:

Welcome Rob. A lot of guys in the forum here would love to have found that Performer on CL. Really like the jeep. Love to have it but would settle for a Gator.

welcome to the group. Nice Jeep...i am waiting for the tires to wear out on my 2012 unlimited to start modding that one like i did my previous YJ....

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm working on getting more pictures. I have never used charcoal before Saturday and figured i try a nearly 6lbs flat brisket... on to the pictures

4:30am saturday morning coming out the fridge and getting montreal steak seasoning

5:00 going to the grill

About 12:00 I had pulled it from the grill and put it in the cooler. Was hard not to try it then but knew it would be worth the wait.

Next on the agenda was adult field day and more specifically the "2nd Annual First Ever Field Day"

My lady taking one of several spills on the tarp

Finally home and try to cut and taste!

I loved it and so did everyone else that tried it. I thought it might have been a little to pepper but all who tried it said it was just the right amount.

Thanks to this forum and all of you for the knowledge and confidence to tackle this meal!!!

Welcome, Rob. With that nicely modded Jeep, you're going to need a portable Weber Smokey Joe to take wheeling!

Thank you and the smokey Joe is on the wish list. I think I'd use it at home even more than on wheeling trips but that's how I'll convince myself to add to the weber fleet.

Pulled the dent out of the lid by the handle today. Easier than expected for sure. Also looked at the lid vent and notice the code DA which means my performer is from 2001 I believe. So is this an SS performer?
