What goes good with Whiskey ( Got to meet Mike Rowe)

Well, how good is that whiskey?
I would think that a great whiskey needs less cooling than an anything below in quality.
Kind of like beer. The lower quality it is the colder it needs to be to be palatable.

Back in my drinking days I’d prefer a small glass and 2 ice cubes with my whiskey, bourbon or scotch, let that rest for a couple minutes and sometimes maybe enjoy with a good cigar.
Other alcohols like tequila or rum it’s a “no thank you” about the ice.

I have a couple of NorCal pipe-fitter friends that hook me up with some nice moonshine. Some is even flavored.
They make their own and some of the flavors are apple pie, Lemmon drop and some sort of cinnamon.
My mom is near 90 and when I pull out a jar of that hooch it puts a smile on her face.
Moms grew up poor on a farm in Europe during the war and that is all they could get.
Joan is right though it’s not for everyone.

I like most of not all whiskey's on ice. There is an "optimal" amount of dilution that happens after a bit, and then at some point it does taste a little watered down. I have had some whiskey "neat" and it's got to be pretty smooth for me to enjoy it that way.

Got to meet Mike Rowe, picked up a couple of bottles of his Knobel Whiskey line. I am gifting the signed bottle to my Dad for his 80th Birthday.

Like your very lucky Dad I too like a shot or two of Irish Jameson Whisky once-a-month and next Month I will be celebrating my 82nd year on this planet.
