I've dumped it in the garbage, it leaked out the cracks in the bottom of the trash can and the dogs are eating the yard up.
I've dumped it under the fence in the back yard, and the dogs dug there until they could escape.
I've dumped it in the front yard, and the wife almost slipped and broke her neck.
I've dumped it in a bucket and the dogs found it and drank it and licked it clean.

Besides getting rid of the dogs and wife, does anyone have any recomendations on what to do with the nasty greasy water in the water pan after a smoke session?

Russ, we simply put it into a sealable container (jar, milk jug, butter tub, etc.) and set it in the garbage.

Because of all the cooking I do, I have 3 50 gallon plastic barrels that I dump grease and grease water into, once a year or more often if need I have a company remove for me.
Ray's solution for the average cook out there is the way to go.

The water company might not like me but I just run hot water in the sink and pour down the sink.It can't be any worse than putting it in the yard or landfill.

Ricky,

You might want to rethink pouring grease down your sink drain. It'll clog your pipes up quick.

I find this to be the most environmentally friendly and socially responsible thing to do.
Pour the liquid into a wide mouthed container, let it cool and sit overnight in the fridge. All the grease will solidify on the top. I skim the layer of grease off, double bag it, and into the trash it goes. The remaining grease-free liquid(broth?), gets poured down the drain. This keeps to a minimum my contribution to the landfill, and my drain pipes get a nice drink.

I get 5 gallon plastic pails and lids from delis, grocery stores and anyplace else. I put ashes, grease, and trash in them. When filled put the lid on and put our for trash.

You can also get 2 gallon containers if that is easier for you. My dogs learned the hard way not to eat it. One of my Dalmatians ate a bucket of grease and ashes. The stain in the carpet was hard to get out. The mess was a little disgusting also. No more details to follow /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi Russ,
Ya know I suffered from the same problem, only diffrence was not dogs but cockroaches! In Hawaii we got these huge cockroaches we call em "B-52's" cause not only are they big but at night they fly around and land on you. When it comes to grease they swarm over the stuff and it looks like something from a locus swarm (very frightening!) It is not unusual to see both locals and tourists do the B-52 boggie at night. Anyway since ID fraud is a big thing now days, I got a shredder and shredd all my documents before throwing in the trash. I now take the shredded paper and use that to soak up all the liquids. If you foil your water pan before hand, all ya gotta do is stir in some shredded paper, let is soak up the liquid, wrap up in the foil, throw in a plastic shopping bag and "no worried bradah" problem solved. Not only is it quick and clean, but no dirt bag criminal can read or get any information from the nasty, oily, shredded paper! Have fun! mattD /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
