WGC briquettes alternative?

Hello all,

Smoking some pork on Saturday night, and I'm really low on WGC briquettes - the only fuel I've ever used in the WSM.

I'm looking for recommendations on an alternative, something I can find at Lowes, Home Depot, or Stop and Shop. This would be for an overnight smoke.

I have enough for probably half a ring of coal, so it would be a mix of WGC and something else.

I'm lost without my WGC!!

Stubbs at Lowe's. There are a lot of threads here about Stubbs.

I been using Stubbs for a couple-a weeks now.
Love it! Wish it was on sale more often.

CJ, never used the WG briquettes, but I think you'll like the Stubbs. Let us know what you think if you get a chance though since I don't know that I've ever read a comparison anywhere.

I'll give a report, but I'm not sure how good the comparison is going to be, since much of the ring will be filled with whatever I have left of the WGC. The next cook would probably be all Stubbs.

WGC has been very good to me - easily lasts upwards of 20 hours without refueling, and almost no ash at all. Even after an overnighter, there's no need to even tap the legs of the WSM. If I can get that with Stubbs and not have to order online, I might be sold on the product.

Sounds like the WG is even lower in ash than the Stubbs.

For long cooks, I'll use almost all of a Stubbs bag to heap my ring up under a Brinkman pan and I haven't had to refuel in a long time like this, even with water in the pan. My big cooks run somewhere in the 14-16 hr range, but have run longer.

I highly recommed Stubbs, please let us know how it compares. I use Stubbs for long cooks and kb for short cooks. I hear WG is great but expensive.
