Weber Summit Platinum D6 NOS

Weber folks,

Weber Summit Platinum D6 (2006 model?). It’s never been used. Still has protective film on it. It’s complete with all bells and whistles.

I’ve read about rust issues, burn through, parts availability, etc.

How long will it last?
What’s a decent price to offer?

I used to have a genesis platinum but sold it years ago (bad move). I am happy with my genesis 3000 but never thought I’d see another platinum like this.

It’s huge, I probably don’t need it but…. I could talk myself into it!

Thanks

If I was selling it new I would list it at $800 and just wait and see how it goes over time occasionally lowering the price.

I would think it would sell for $800. I am very interested to find out if Tork winds up with it or what it does eventually sell for.

If it's really an all SS framer version maybe set your sights a touch higher on purchase. Though it still doesn't change all the foibles of the actual grill. Which are many.

Will Jon Tofte’s reinforcing panels fit that front panel?
If so that would address the top concern of the rusting

Do the grates of that sit on stainless rails or the porcelain steel panels?
That would be the other worry

Nope the reinforcements will not work on that model and yes the grates sit on the porcelain steel ledge

Look at this old beauty from the Netherlands

It's probably not stainless if it is actual conduit, that stuff is more of a zinc pot metal so it doesn't rust.
