Weber Spirit II-Redhead

I haven't cooked on my Jr yet but I've never cooked on a Weber that didn't cook good. Eventually I'm going to switch out my Genesis ii LX 240 and 340 for Genesis 1000 and Jr. As much as I like my Genesis ii LX grills I have to vote for old school because either way I think it's going to cook really well but an old school Weber will Outlast anything newer by a long shot.

I have three webers, a performer, WSM and a spirit II.

I really like all of them. The spirit is quick to use when you just want to grill something fast that's the way to go. It's easy to control the temperature really doesn't burn that much gas. The other two require char coal. And take more time. It's just my wife and I so in the winter in particular In probably 50% of the time we use the spirit. I've had it three or four years now no problems.

Man that is a tough decision. All 4 if those are excellent cookers, and none of them look bad at all! I can see why you would swap out, but it would be a challenge for me 😂

I have a SPirit II three burner on my deck that I just hooked up via NG. I have only used it a couple time but it works great. No complaints yet. I am sure when the rust monster gets it, I will be a little more critical. I do have a Silver A sitting in my driveway that I could have put up there. I may do something like that and then rehab and resell the Spirit II.

Yes Bruce,
I used to have a Silver A on my back porch that I would use in a pinch. I have not decided if I get the Spirit II if I would put it on my back porch or on the ground in the backyard for my back porch is rather small. I currently have deck boxes on my back porch so I will have to remove one of those if I do.

Bruce, I think you will love the Silver A. You can mount your rotisserie on it and it will fit fine. I used to have one, and I was surprised how well it all worked out. Just can't do as large an item due to lower lid.
You may never use Frankengrill again. What with that plentiful gas you now have :D

I have seen a lot of that era spirit's with a fair amount of rust near where the lower shelf connects to the front leg (without the wheel). Which is somewhat surprising given the design. Somehow moisture must pool there and slowly seep in an rot it away.
