It came with my Genesis 2. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen. I still have the never used grate that came with it and Bruce was kind enough to give me the partial grate from his steam n chips that’s now in his 4/5.

Used to have one. Truth be told performance was MEH. Mostly it just took up grate space

There are almost always some NIB steam and chips on eBay, although I've never seen a stainless steel one either.

I would think the smoke boxes would work better with a dedicated burner to at least ignite them, like the summits have. I like my smoke tube on my 330. Not a huge fan of it with wood chips, but worked pretty well with pellets.

I would probably never own a personal grill with something that took up that much grill space.

One of my rescues had a steam-and-chips and I used it on my Genesis 1000 to see how it works.

I used it once with chips and TBH I prefer using a smoke tube.

I agree it is not worth the grill space.

Yes, I can see the space issue. I think for something special like what Bruce is doing, having that adds to it’s historical charm.

You could just throw a couple brats right on the lid of the steam n chips, for some extra smoky flavor.

Nah, nothing comes out of the lid itself.

Does anyone have a good source for 7mm SS solid rod grates for Silver B/1000 grills? I used to mainly use Uniflasy, but the are now unavailable. I don't care too much if they are not 304 stainless but I want solid rod SS grates. Price is a consideration and they must be truly 7mm or larger.

304 magnet does not stick.
You must improvise

That is really a great price for those, however, I have tried to sell grills with them several times and buyers are not interested. I think they find them to be gimmicky as do I.
