Weber Limited gasser?

I remember someone posting one of those "Limited" badges several years ago. But, I don't think that lid is original to that grill. If I had to guess, that whole lid is from a different grill.

I found this thread. I agree with Bruce and think the one on the following thread is what it probably was originally marketed as:

Funny thing is that "Limited" in the post that Jon linked to has the thermometer on the right side. The one above is in the middle. I thought the middle thermometer lids came out in the later 2004-2005 grills. The grill in this thread is clearly a Genesis 1000 style grill so it would have to be before 2000 even. Very confusing. I would love to find the serial number on that grill and run it on Weber.com to find out exactly what the grill is and if it has and indication of the "Limited" edition associated with it. I still say that lid is a transplant on that grill in this post.

Its a replacement lid. My 2001 Silver B lid (with a side mounted thermometer) had a couple cracks by the bolts and Weber replaced it for me with this one pictured here. Same charcoal color. It almost had a bit of maroon in it in the sunlight.

Jason, did your lid have the "LIMITED" badge on it? Also, did your grill have the same handle?

That explains the shift to the center thermometer since Weber doesn’t do the removable side one anymore.

If I recall correctly, the Badge just said ‘Weber’, and I‘m sure of the handle being exactly that one. The porcelain color is what I recognized right away. It was kinda cool because it‘s not a color that was available to purchase.

Could that lid have been intended for a special run of grills that never happened? They had to do something with them, so sent them out as warranty replacements. Sounds reasonable if I'm guessing.

This is almost definitely a case of a replacement lid for a 2004-2005 model Genesis being sent for a Genesis 1000 model. Sending the newer lids for older units became common practice as stock of the older lids was depleted. As for why it says Limited, it's most likely a case of there being an exclusive "Limited Edition" model (typically they had SS grate/flavorizer bars, or some unique combination of features) that was sold to a specific retail partner. We likely had extra stock of those replacement lids on hand to use up. OR...we had stock of the lid badges that we wanted to use up. The color looks black to me on the lid, but maybe it's not coming through in the photo. Maroon lids were typically much more distinct from black, and I have no record of a color between maroon and black. #IworkforWeber
