Weber Jr??

Gafternoon Guru’s,
Today while perusing C/L, I came across what I believe to be a Weber Jr…. Redhead. Didn’t realize that the Jr was a model until I had seen one here last week, refurbished. Can’t remember the name of the Craftsman that did it over (or even Where I saw it), but I believe it was a rust/copper color. Obviously smaller than the full size units I have here. Anyways, the redhead is what caught my eye, as I’m doing one over now.

Im curious if this IS a Jr, and if it’s worth chasing. Are parts available?? I have fab skills, so I’m not too concerned about hard to get items. The seller says it’s complete, just needs an igniter (really??), and is looking for $60.

What say you?? Grab & Rehag?? Or stay far away??

Thanx, Jay IMG_3366.jpeg

I'm restoring my second one right now. They are one of my favorite grills and the one I pursue the most. I would grab it immediately but I love them probably more than most people. I like smaller grills this size. Genesis 1000 is the only other grill I like as much.

Here's mine

Here's the one I'm working on now. Just finished making the handle and now I'm about to start on the wood slat tables.

The grease tray and drip pan seem to be missing. The grease tray that slides in on the rails under the cook box is a hard item to find.
Next inspect the lid and control panel to make sure they are in acceptable condition for you because those are also hard to find.
Custom made burners can be purchased as well as flavorizer bars and grates so that's less of a concern.
The control knobs are incorrect which bugs me but that depends if it matters to you or not.
@Steve Hoch is in the process of making the wide white walls for these wheels so they can be purchased soon.

What a thing of beauty! Man I want that

So I compared the grease tray on my Genesis ii LX240 to the grease tray on my Junior and they are the same size from top to bottom and front to back. Very similar looking design but the Junior grease tray is an inch and a half wider which means the 240 grease tray is 3/4 of an inch too short each way from side to side so in order to use it you'd have to modify your grease tray rails with some wider ones that would catch a little skinnier grease tray.

That should be an easy mod for all of you craftsmen. Fab up some new tracks

If the grease tray covers the opening in the bottom of the cook box completely then it's a doable modification .
