Weber Grills and Harley-Davidson™ Team Up for Big Burger Battle

PALATINE, Ill., May 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To announce their new partnership with Harley-Davidson, Weber-Stephen Products LLC, the company that ignited the backyard grilling revolution more than 60 years ago, is kick-starting a burger competition that invites grillers to submit their best burger recipe for a chance to compete for the title of Weber's Big Burger Battle Champion at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 3.

As Harley-Davidson's Official Grill Partner for 2014, Weber Grills will stage the Big Burger Battle Championship during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally—one of the world's largest motorcycle events attended annually by hundreds of thousands of people. The new Weber Mobile Grill Academy will also be on site to allow consumers a first-hand look at Weber's grills and accessories. Weber will also host three hands-on grilling classes for Harley Owners Group® (HOG) members on August 6.

Weber's Big Burger Battle challenges anyone, age 18 or older, to submit their recipe, along with a photo of their plated creation, at weber.com/contests/big-burger-battle beginning May 16 through June 23.

Three finalists will be hand-picked by Jamie Purviance, author of the new Weber's Big Book of Burgers. Purviance is a national grilling expert, a New York Times best selling cookbook author and James Beard Award Nominee. "I've written and tested hundreds of burger recipes—so I'm anxious to see what twists and spins people will put on their burgers that will make them stand out from the pack," said Purviance.

The grand prize package includes a trophy, along with more than $5,000 in prizes, including a top-of-the line Weber Summit S-670 gas grill, grilling accessories, the new Weber's Big Book of Burgers, and a $500 Harley-Davidson™ gift card. The three finalists will receive all-expense paid trips to the 74th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to compete in the Big Burger Battle.

How to win the Big Burger Battle: Grind chuck steak, brisket and pork rib meat (50%-25%- 25% ratio). Form into 12oz. patties. Wrap a patty in heavy-duty foil. When you get to the entrance to Badlands National Park, place the wrapped patty between the cylinders of your Twin Cam, just below the intake manifold. By the time you ride into in Sturgis, it will be a perfect medium rare. Enjoy.

Weber is giving the winner a nice Summit, but it should be on a nice little trailer, pulled by the new HD that Harley should kick in!
