Thanks Bruce! I want to do color changes so paint is happening regardless. I will clean up the grates but I am getting new grates. Probably Q240 grates or Q2400Nice. Are you going to keep the grates? Does the lid look like you will need to repaint it?
I have a new set of Qulimetal Q2200 grates but I think I will get new Q240 or Q2400 electric Q gratesAre you getting new CharQ grates or just using a set of Q2xx grates?
I think I had found some. Are you looking for grates or do you already have a source for them?Do you have a source for the Electric Q grates?
Yeah you know me also. I'll be seeking a cheaper option. Thanks Josh. A bit high for me.
I'm in the same boat.I can buy a Q2400 that is virtually new for $50. Just seems a shame to buy it for just the grates though.
Excellent suggestions Jon thank you! I'll see how good I can get these grates and then I'll get back to you.Josh, if you decide to change out the plug with the CharQ logo on it, keep in mind that this part is no longer available and frequently missing on old CharQs. It has definite value.
On the grate, why not grind the original down to raw cast iron if needed and then season? I think it would be a lot better than a thinner porcelain coated new one.
Actually I agreed to purchase this Char Q under the impression that that piece was missing. I only had one picture to go by and it wasn't on the grill. When I picked it up and opened it it was sitting inside on the grates. Pleasant surprise to say the least. Before I was leaving to pick it up I was considering my options of maybe doing a frame change to a newer frame but now that I have it and I have the Char Q logo piece I see no reason to switch frames.Josh, if you decide to change out the plug with the CharQ logo on it, keep in mind that this part is no longer available and frequently missing on old CharQs. Very nice! Is that yours?
