Honestly my pellet cookers give me plenty of smoke, but as in all pellet grills (well maybe the SmokeFire aside) some diminishes as you push temps. On most "normal" ones basically nothing once you push over 250. It's been explained as to why, but it does escape me just a bit. As to get higher temps you need more fuel and in my mind more fuel is more pellets and should = more smoke. But, that is in my "simple" mind. 
Re, my butt pieces. They've hit stall. so I have wrapped them in pink paper and pushed temp to 250 and will hold that until they hit 200 or so. They seem to hae a nice bark formed and I cheated and took a little "burnt end" off and flavor was good.
So stay tuned to this Bat Channel for further updates. I may still try pulled pork tonight. But will have my beef back ribs as back up
