Hello all,

Thinking about getting a small Vortex for my WSM 18.5. Just curious on cook times for wings from those who use one often. Also any good wing recipe, techniques, over all tips for getting the most use out of it.

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob, check the Vortex website. The address is http://www.owensbbq.com/vortex.html
The website does not mention the WSM. Only mentions the Weber charcoal kettles and other grills. Never heard of anyone using one on a smoker. It is designed for high heat not low and slow.

Bob, like mentioned above, the vortex is mainly for use in a kettle. I made my vortex by cutting the bottom out of a stainless steel bowl I got a Walmart for around $10! My wings usually take around 45-55 minutes, I rotate the lid 1/4 turn every 15 minutes, and flip the wings at about 30 minutes into the cook.
Good luck,
Tim
