I don't drink alcohol anymore but my brother-in-law is a tequila fanatic. He has a large room in his house that is floor to ceiling tequila. He is on a tequila tasting review board He lives near me in Washington.

Well today in Arizona I went to a large well known Liquor store in Scottsdale to get something special for him (Trevor's liquor store). Oh Boy did I show up at the right place at the right time. A very rare small batch in extremely high demand in the tequila connoisseur community was just released for sale. I messaged my brother in-law and he freaked out. Never seen him like this lol. So out of the about 12 bottles that got released I bought my brother-in-law 8 bottles. He said this was was top 5 for best days of his life lol. The remaining about 4 bottles sold quickly to people my brother in-law knows from his online tequila community. I'll be bringing him his eight bottles tomorrow to do what he wants with them. The other bottles that got purchased went up for sale in the tequila community and sold immediately. First one sold for $550 next two sold for $600 each. No wonder my Brother in-law is so happy lol. I paid $104 each for the 8 bottles I bought him. Sounds like they are worth some $. He will probably keep at least 3. I'm happy for him to do whatever he wants with them. He takes care of my place in WA when I'm in AZ. So I'm happy I can give this to him.

Yeah, I don't drink alcohol any more ( I don't drink any less, either. )

I've been waiting all year to use that one!

I don't care for tequila myself, but making it is such an involved process I think you have to have a lot of respect for the distillers. You made a great score there, Josh! Did you happen to buy a Lotto ticket while you were there? It might have been your Lucky Day!

Ooh Lotto win would be nice!

My brother-in-law is a good man. The kind of guy I'd be happy to do anything for so whatever he decides to do with it is fine with me.
Of course, it sounds like he is a collector/connesieur of tequila and I think that's great. It was also awesome of you to pick those bottles up for him. It's too bad that you won't get a chance to enjoy some of it with him though.

Oh that's ok. I've never been good at moderation so I have to be mindful of what I'm getting into. If I focus my energy on the right things it can be a good thing. Don't get me wrong I think it would be great to have a drink every once in awhile and for the people that works for I'm kind of envious but It's all or nothing for me. At least I can recognize I have a problem and correct actions without needing to having any devastating consequences forcing me to quit.

I like Tequila, and thanks to Costco, I have Tequila more now than ever. Don Julio 70 is my go to. I will be on the lookout for a bottle of that, hopefully with some luck at the price you paid. Multiple Franklins and I'll be sticking with the DJ70, LOL

Congrats for you brother! I'm a whiskey drinker, but I do have one bottle of good tequila, a Tesoro pick that was finished in a bourbon cask that I enjoy. I didn't realize that tequila drinkers flip bottles like whiskey drinkers. I've always had mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it makes pricier bottles affordable if you can sell one to offset the cost...but it makes getting hard to find bottles pretty much impossible for everyone else when a couple of people clear the shelves.

There's legislation pending in OH that aims at that, by requiring clerks to break the seal on the bottle at time of sale for high value spirits. I'd be a bit surprised if it passes. Then again, I consider investing in rare spirits to be a fool's errand.

We have a bottle of Herradura Seleccion Suprema here, it's an anejo, and is a wonderful sippin' tequilia. TBH, most tequilas taste like lighter fluid to me. A few of the higher end tequilas, I do find rather delightful. If you ask me to make you a margarita with the Herradura..... yeah, we're not gonna be friends.

I just talked to my brother-in-law a little bit ago and he's not selling any of these bottles for profit. He's going to sell a few of them to his close friends in his tequila group at cost and keep the rest for his collection. Which I guess is a common courtesy amongst these groups. Understandable

Cava d Oro extra anejo. You can thank me later.
