What's happening is that the vents on the bottom are basically closed shut. Seems I can't move 2 out of 3 without distorting the metal vents. Any advice would be appreciated.

Push harder. At worst they'll just spin around.

Normally if sum thin doesn't work I just kick it. A small rubber mallet comes to mind, or a block of wood with a hammer:)

No you should tap it not beat it. It's held on by a RIVET which might of seized up.

That's just what I was thinking, rivets usually suck for this kind of thing. I'm just hoping I don't have to drill 'em out and make some new vent covers. Or will Weber sell me new covers?

Jim, I have had mine stick a little during a cook, I guess from metal expansion, but just tapped them a bit with a small hammer or mallet as suggested. I also had them stick once from dirt or gunk or ash getting in them between the vent and the cooker ( and mine are only a few months old). I just rinsed them good with soap and water and no problems after that

Out of the box, my smoker vents needed some persuasion to spin. After a few cooks, they operate flawlessly. Wondering if they're getting gunked up & 'glued' in place?

That's what I was thinking. Maybe start a fire and heat them up and see if they move. If so, open them and wipe away some of the build up. If not, get a bigger hammer.

Jim, if it comes to that they do sell them. You need to drill out the rivet and the new ones install with a bolt. I just
bent one in half taking the frozen cover off the smoker!

Okay, thanks. And buck up, I still have to get my butt out and shovel away some global warming off my sidewalk & driveway. No running the WSM today.

Yeah, even after my neighbor finished snow blowing I still had an hour and half of "global warming" cleanup!
