It's -7 now I think it might make it to 0 this afternoon
Has anyone had luck smoking ribs in this kind of weather?
Wanted to bring some to a New Years
Party tonight.
Thanks
And Happy New Year!

Scot,

been running 225 for 6 1/2 hours without a problem here in Elk River! Hope the ribs work out great, Happy New years!

Scott,

If you have a Home Depot close go and get some water heater insulation and wrap it around the mid section. This is what I use, eventhough we don't have that kind of cold in Ohio.....yet :) Good luck and Happy New Year!

Temperature should be fine. Low temperature + wind is difficult. +1 on blocking the wind.

I'm doing ribs right now ~20F...They've been on for 4 hours...as long as I use my inverted bbq tongs to prop the upside down door open about 1/2 inch it stays 225-250...but will burn 3x as much charcoal in this weather....So I will usually take them off and finish them in an aluminum pan in the oven in the morning...

I use a CyberQ, welding blanket, and makeshift windbreak. Did 6 racks of spares yesterday at 275* at 20* F. Not as cold as you, but same idea.

As others have stated you are just going to need more fuel to keep the temps up.
