Use for old charcoal

I am getting a pile next to my garage of all the small pieces of lump that I dump when I clean the WSM. Can I compost this? Can I reuse it even if it has been wet? Thanks

Dry it out if it's wet, and use it at the bottom of your next chimney. All my "old maids" get thrown into the chimney for a "recycle".

When I finish a smoke,I close all the vents and smother the charcoal. I just leave it in there. The next smoke I just dumb a fresh lit chimney on top. After 2 or 3 smokes I dump the ashes and any leftover charcoal, rinse it out and start with a clean smoker.

I clean mine out after every cook and I take all of the usable pieces and use them in the next cook. They tend to light easier and help to catch others.

I would not use briquette ash for compost, but lump should be ok since it does not have the same fillers as Kingsford.
