Hey all,
I was wondering what are good prices now a days. I've seen posts from about 5 years ago. Here's what I can find at a butcher (fresh).

Briset packers:$2.49 per lb (was $2 last summer)
Spares:$2
BB or St.louis:$3.50-4.00
Whole Chicken:$1
Bone in butts:$1
Tri-Tip:$5.99 ($4.99 at Costco)

What do you think? are the prices good? Decent? What do you find?

I can usually find ribs for cheaper. RD has st louis for 2.39/lb.

the thing is, this is all for commodity stuff. If you're looking for decent meat, prices are much higher.

I've been sourcing berkshire belly and chops for 6.99/lb and grass/grain angus briskets for 6/lb. anybody beat those prices?

Meat prices seem to be a regional thing . What I pay in Michigan may be cheap for say the same thing in Texas or vise versa . reading posts here has led me to that thinking thou ymmv .

My local supermarket, Loblaw's, regularly sells BBs which aRE QUITE MEATY for C$2.99, but I really don't know much about their provenance.

Top Sirloin for jerky - on sale for 2/lb
Pork - no go, all enhanced

Costco -
USDA Prime top sirloin steaks - 6.99/lb
Pork butt - 1.69/lb for 2-pack
Babybacks - 3.49/lb

I'd say chicken, ribs, pork butt/shoulder prices may be comparable. Tri-tip and Brisket are more regional and ycwv(your costs will vary).

Quantity/quality packers are difficult finds in Southern California but tri-tips grow on trees.

Flats. $4.59 (up from $3.99 a month or so ago)
Ribs. $2.99 - $4.99 depending on cut (Spares, St.Louis, BB)

Here in SC, Sams had Baby Backs for $2.97/lb for the last several weeks.

Today, they were $3.47/lb.

Hey dave from denver, if your near sloans lake... there's a great cheap place called wheatridge poultry. Thats where my prices are from. It's at 29th near fenton or chase?.

My wife just picked up 2 3 packs of loin backs at Sam's Club and the dang things have gone up .80 cents a lb to $3.79 lb here in S E Michigan what gives has pork went up all over like that ? Or have they decided that we deserve to pay more here

O well I likem so I will pay it this time but I will be looking for a new source of quality loin backs asap

Strange to no one this summer so far has put them on sale spares yes but NOT the loin backs !

I can get spares right now for $1.59 lb but the wife don't like spares I do but I like loin backs also so I go with what she likes . I will admit the loin backs with that inch a meat on the meat side is great eating but $3.79 a lb OMG .....

O well I guess it equals out I found some really nice steaks porterhouse and T bones for $3.97 lb USDA choice nice marbleing very good eating so I loaded up on those from a small market here today . Grilled up a couple a thhese tonight and went stright back and emptyed out the counter and order 20 more to pick up tommrow
