Weird

"When we started building Periscope, our first idea revolved around a map. We wanted to be able to see anywhere in the world, but questioned whether we would have enough broadcasts for a map to be compelling. “What are the odds that anyone would even be live?” we asked ourselves. So we shelved the map, and promised to revisit the idea when it made more sense.

We could never have predicted the volume of broadcasts happening across the world. We believe the incredible Periscope community has now made that original vision possible, which inspired us to release today’s iOS update:
Thank you to these Periscope users for allowing us to share their broadcasts: @penguinsix, @danandmoore, @sky1ron, @valaafshar, @nicholasgarnett, @abhishekscariya, @colbay, @lidiaschillaci, @cailinoneil, @mweasner, @everydaydude, @danandmoore, @euromaestro, @revbeej, @bohan, @marloes, @glacierNPS, @intothefuzz
Map View

When you tap on the ‘Global’ section, you will be able to explore live broadcasts on an interactive map. You’ll see the most recent broadcasts (with location shared) all over the world, and have your choice of where to travel next."

along with the exploits to no other than "team viewer" (remote pc / phone control with legit uses), this sure seems strange. Turn on your phone & set it to stream what's going on around you..................

So much potential for abuse already with ratters peeping into notebook PC cameras...........smart TVs watching & listening....

That's why I don't do social media or even have a smart phone, just to many risks for me. The net and email my only open sources which is bad enough and of course my dumb phone.

I have been a Periscope user for about 2-3 months now. I very occasionally get on there but I think it is an interesting platform. I have seen someone periscope a baseball game, concert, a person walking through a farmers market etc. It is unlike other forms of social media which is pretty interesting.

I am on a few social media platforms periscope the one I use the absolute least but find the topic fascinating.

In terms of news people say newspaper is a dying form of media and I agree but traditional TV news isn't too far away from print in my opinion. By the time it takes a new reporter to get to a scene and start a broadcast there multiple people who have already shared the news on there social media platforms. People can share print, pictures and videos before any traditional media knows what is going on.

While technology can seem to go too far, the way our planet is headed technology is an essential skill to make it in the workforce/life.

Social media, and technology in general, will kill all of us.

Of course, I sit here typing this into a forum....
