UltraQ with WSM

I have been using the UltraQ for about 6 months now. It has worked pretty well, but I was sometimes frustrated by how long it takes to ramp up to my desired cooking temp on the WSM 18.5". So, I looked at the manual today (after owning the device for 6 months). There is a setting called Smart Cook you can change that will adjust the algorithm based on the type of cooker you are using. In my case I switched from the default setting to setting 3 and my cooker ramped right up to my desired cooking temp and now is holding steadily despite being a windy and snowy day in Minneapolis. Let this be a lesson to all of you: read the manual.

Read the manual! Why take all the adventure and fun out of a new toy. Look at the back of your man card, see where it says no manuals allowed.
I know I know my wife always asks when I'm PO'd "Did you read the manual".
I just show her the back of my man card, enough said.

As a writer of manuals, as well as a tech support guy, I can tell you that there are MANY that carry this card. In fact, I think it's almost universal.
