To Freeze or not to Freeze

I just bought 13.5lbs of pork spare ribs that I plan to smoke next Sunday for the Bills Opening Game. I bought them today because the $1.99lb sale ended today. Now the butcher told me it would be best to freeze them however the sell by date on the package is September 13th. I have heard that freezing the ribs could affect the overall taste.

What are your thoughts on this, will they be ok in the fridge for a week or am i better off freezing them?

Thanks
Jonathan

I would freeze them.
I've never seen fresh ribs with a sell by date that many days later.
Even if they are cryovac sealed I would freeze them, and start fridge thawing on Thursday or early Friday.

No probs at all freezing but if you are freexing for more than a week or two I would vacuum seal them. I've done both and meats, properly frozen will last a long time.
