So I’m going to do a couple butts tomorrow night, (edit: i ended up doing three) both with Oakridge rubs. I’m going for savory and sweet, one will be Game Bird and brown sugar (amazing combo) the other will be what I’m calling Texas style, SPOGOS with a light dusting of habanero death dust.

Can’t wait to get this weekend started right!!
Ton of pics to follow!

One with Worcestershire, SPOGOS and habenero death dust, the other with mustard game bird, secret weapon and brown sugar.
looking forward to tasting the difference.

Can you please post your cooking process? Using smokeboost? How long they ended up taking?
Of course. something weird happened and the butts had a baby, now I’m doing 3. Used Oakridge Competition beef and pork with brown sugar for the 3rd one.

Around 9 I’m putting them on at 225, I won’t be doing smoke boost because I get insane bark and smoke ring every time at 225.

I am so jealous! I am curious to see how long they take. Do you recall the weight?

I will be doing a butt soon, but I wanted to get a good handle on the grill before doing longer cooks. Started out with some chicken thighs, then did reverse seared steak, and now doing chicken and tri-tip. Slowly extending the time of each cook.

I have about 25-30 pounds of butt going on. Something I would have never tried with my WSM.
