Fireboxes were pretty much all cast aluminum until the last few years, where they have been going to Stainless steel for parts of the cook box. The lids on all the models up to recently have all been steel, either Stainless Steel or coated with porcelain enamel. Although the end caps for the lids are cast aluminum..
