I can't see how anyone would have paid $3500 for it. Were they really that expensive?

No, but they are very expensive. All decked out like that one I bet it was over $1500

That is a nice specimen for sure. That is one that Jon T would probably look strongly at. IMO, if you are a Broilmaster loyalist, that is a steal.
