Thermoprene Gloves -- the heavy, black rubber-like glvoes you can use to take meat off your pit, pull pork, etc. without burning your hands.

Anyone know where I can get a pair?

Thanks for your help.

HJP,

These are the same as neoprene gloves. You can find them at Orchard Supply Hardware, Home Depot, etc. with all the other work gloves.

Chris

Is there any need to get some that are thermally lined? Or is the neoprene heat resistant enough to just pick up the meat and transfer to a tray? No point in spending $20 if I can use a $5 pair.
What sort of thickness did you all go with?
Thanks for any info you have.

Mine are basic black neoprene gloves, with a very thin cloth lining. They are great for picking up hot meat. I think I paid 8 bucks for them at Grainger.

I picked up a pair of forked "turkey lifters" at bed and bath this weekend. These work great in getting large chunks of meat out of the WSM. Tried them on Sunday on two briskets and they worked great, no gloves necessary.

I use a pair of heavy leather gloves to take off hot racks, pickup the middle section after a cook,
and to load charcoal. These have worked great in protecting hands from real hot stuff though they are starting to look a little black.

Try Allied Kenco.com they seem to have a little of everything. I picked mine up for short money. The exact price I can't remember for I got other stuff.
