I was going to make meatloaf today until I mentioned something about chili dogs. Then my wife was begging me for chili cheese dogs.
While at the store getting stuff to make the chili I noticed they had both Nathan's and Hebrew National. Unfortunately they are both skinless beef franks. (We like the natural casing that crunch when you bite into them.)
I ended up getting a package of each to do a little taste test.
Here we are on the grill. The thinner longer ones are Hebrew National, the short plump are Nathan's. Also, I had to do up some giant ABTs.
On the plate topped with my dog chili, onions and cheese. Sharing the plate is more mac salad from yesterday. (The peppers didn't get done in time for the family pic.)
While neither are as good as the natural casing dogs that we usually get, the Hebrew National beat the Nathan's hands down. Better beef flavor, better texture and they browned up better.
