The cooking topics brisket recipe

I've been away from TVWB for a bit. I have in mind to do a couple of briskets over the Christmas holidays.

I've only ever done brisket using the detailed instructions in the cooking topics section. But coming back here today, I think maybe the rub is different from what I remember. I'm pretty sure the recipe I used from there a while ago had some sugar in it.

Can anyone confirm or negate that the recipe is different and why?

Thanks.

I honestly don't recall and I've not used any of those recipes before, but I know I've read them. There is sugar in the wet-rub recipe... Might that be what you're remembering?

Maybe Chris or someone else who knows will jump in here.

(As an aside, I don't often include sugar in rubs for beef. I will use some--a little, generally--in rubs that need some balance or counterpoint (like those based heavily on ground chilies or that include significant acidic ingredients), but many I make for brisket do not include sugar.)
