Thai inspiration behind the kettle design?

I know this had no connection to the original kettle design, I vaguely remember how the kettle's we know came to take their shape, although it escapes me now.

Anyhow, my wife's cousin just came back from Thailand and posted this picture... I could not stop thinking about how this is definitely the original kettle type grill! It looks like a bucket with some sort of large wood/ceramic wrap to hold the cooking vessel, filled with natural coal.

This picture was taken on the streets in Bangkok Thailand. I have no other info, but thought y'all could appreciate this pic.

Makes me wonder how many times those have tipped over scalding someone. When I'm in Thailand, I keep a weary eye out. It's not the periodic elephant that wander into your yard that worries me, it's stuff like this
