When control temp on a kettle do you adjust the One-Touch or just the top vents?

Thanks. I love the Crimson. I have an old Genesis which I guess is the Brick Red(browner?).

I have a cpl marks on the ash ring so I know where I position the one-touch handle. If I am nearly closed and need lower temp I will close the top vent up to 50%.
