Superbowl / Daytona 500 cooks

You most likely are a fan of one or the other.............in maybe a few cases.......maybe a fan of both.
This really isn't important.....but I just wanted to hopefully get a single place where we can chat about good recipes or ideas about cooks we can do for these premium weekend events.
I like the fact that they happen a bit later in the afternoon to evening, and on the weekend!!!!!! It gives me a bit of time to put a few nice plates together for some company.
I may have both of these events on the TV but I probably will only watch one of them.....periodically of course as I plan to cook some good grub for a few friends.

I was thinking of making pork belly burnt ends....I have the pork and I have had it for a while......always a treat and haven't seen anyone unhappy yet.

I also wanted to make something else but not sure what would be a great choice.......please feel free to post what you are doing or what you think I / we should be doing. I had chicken wings in the back of my mind...but wings and pork belly might be an odd combination?

Since I’m still spending a lot of time with my wife in rehab facility (back surgeries, yep, 2!) I won’t be doing much of anything for either this season.
Ordinarily, I’d do five times as much as the guest list would consume! I might do some “Kilties” and wings to bring over, chips and guacamole? A discreet flask of something for myself, maybe.
One year I had a “Non Super Bowl” party, about eight folks over, some people brought things, some just came, there was so much leftover I sent to go boxes with everyone and still had leftovers until Wednesday!

Don't keep tempting me Timothy.....you are one of the few that is within driving distnace!!!
Under 5 hours so I might have to take refuge on the couch after all that food as well....not worth the risk of over eating and driving.....
Sounds like a good time at your place.
I guess no one else is planning a superbowl party here...?
If they were I know the grills would be going.

Anytime Darryl!
Just talked with my butcher, he is slammed with orders for stuff for Super Bowl but, if he needs to make up some sausages, he will run me some Kiltie sized sausages! I told him either Brats or sweet Italian would be just fine, his choice! I’ll call Friday and see what he’s had a chance to do!

My Super Bowl Weekend is going to be lacking at best. I have to clear the house out as we're having 1.6K' of flooring installed starting Monday. Have a great SBW everyone, save a Wing or two for me

A buddy of mine, (who is a phenomenal cook), is hosting a bourbon tasting super bowl party. The "Bourbon Bowl" I'll be bringing some unique bottles of whiskey, cajun shrimp & deviled eggs. Others are doing jambalaya , shrimp etouffee , wings, KC meatballs, Philly pretzels, (hate the team, love the pretzels), Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, Hurricanes and bourbon. It's the first Super Bowl party that we've attended in 30 years.

Sounds like my kind of party.
Hopefully you have a driver to get you home so you can taste many.
I have built up myself a nice little bourbon bar.
We cannot get all the good single barrel stuff up here but I do get a bunch of pretty good stuff....
I think I have maybe 10 bottles or so.....just nice little sips here and there....some of this stuff costs us $150 per bottle....lot sless than that of course.

Thanks and yes, I'm spending the night. I built up a nice whiskey bar too.....to the tune of ~ 150 bottles! o_O You can definitely spend a lot....

So I’m having some family members over - small about 10 of us. I plan to do a pot of chili using some wagyu stew meat and some smoked tri tip sliders. Got a few prime tri tips from Costco and will have some Hawaiin rolls, grilled onions and either cheddar or Jack, or both. Keeping things simple with some poker thrown in throughout the day. The Bourbon Bowl is making me thirsty.

I randomly named off a few items to the head of the house the other day.
I think finger foods are more appropriate ( for me anyway ) rather than a large meal type idea.
I want to do pork belly burnt ends for sure.....I was thinking some kind of queso but I did that last time around....same people coming....
I was thinking pulled pork stuffed double cooked potatoes.....and or some high heat vortex styled chicken wings.
I just want it to be fairly simple and tasty.......the guests never complain no matter what I make.

Bourbon tasting party sounds fun!
They are.

Folks that my g/f works with are also whiskey fans, it all started with a discussion about single malt Scotch whisky, and has turned into a semi-regular party, but with all things distilled. Also has gotten to the point that the party organizer asks if I'm available to smoke something for dinner. :)

Make sure they deliver and acclimate your flooring to your conditions for at least 24 hrs, but 48 is best.
Read the back of the box.

Was it you who recommended Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey?
If so, it is really good.
Had a hard time finding it but WW to the rescue.
