A smoked pepper is much hotter than a fresh one.

truer words were never spoken! A couple of seasons ago , I had a bumper crop of habaneros and I dried a big bunch of them. (This was before I got my smoker...did them on an electric dehydrator).
I ended up with these jars full of whole dried habaneros and that mason jar full of ground up ones. That " habanero death dust" is so potent I can not believe it! One pinch of that in a big bowl of chili will make flames shoot out your nose!
