Stove fans in WSM

Looking for options on whether a stove fan used on the bottom rack for constant convection used in conjunction with a controller and leaving the water pan out would result in better bark formation and even heating?

I feel like it would give you a whole lot of ash on your food.

I don’t have any bark issues, no water pan for me, terracotta plant saucer wrapped in foil. Easy set up, easy tear down.

About the only thing I use the water pan for is if I want to grill and use as a base for the charcoal grate to set on.
