Chalk it up to experience and studying the market. Or, if you're like me, one less thing to have to explain to the wife.

Keep writing. - Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grill. It has worked for me. I wrote to this guy on Offerup 3 times before he got back to me, but I just picked up my first WSM, for just $20! I did have to drive about 200 miles there and back to get it though. Glad it was such a nice day and my wife and I had lunch in historic Leonardtown MD.
 
Yah, I have gotten results by being persistant. I have also gotten responses on adds that were many days and even weeks old that I thought were probably sold already. If you see an add that is old and they haven't sold it, you can usually get it for less than asking price too.
