Spent the weekend cooking on a flat top...

Here’s what AI has to say on the matter:

Choose the Slate 22" if you want a more rugged, rust-resistant surface that allows metal tools and is built for longevity.
Thats a quote from AI. Now the question is why can't you use metal tools on the other model?
Both are steel griddles, not teflon. And rust resistance takes a personal amount of care to keep it that way.

I have to run back to Sam's and also Costco. Costco has what looks like a very nice Blackstone table top, maybe they're gonna run end of season sales, and many times I see that Sam's griddle for $69 on end of season. We should be into that pricing strategy by now. If I see one for that maybe I'll just allow one to fall into my cart

This thread had a lot of info on these portable Weber griddles…
Thread 'Size is not important........'

The only difference I can tell is that the new versions have the rust resistant “slate” griddle. I figured it is portable and I would stow it away in garage between uses. If you separate the griddle from the body, both are very manageable size and weight wise

I did compare directly to black stone griddle on the shelf next to the webers - you get what you pay for

Cooking on my 36” Blackstone is a pleasure.
It’s opened me up to a whole new tasty menu.
It’s easy to use and clean and I’m not hating it.

Amazon has really nice wind guards.
I posted pics of them here a while ago.
They look like they came from the factory.

I really like my Blackstone and I don’t regret it at all but I’d have to say that the Weber Slate has better fit and finish.
Blackstone fit and finish ain’t shabby by any means and it’s about half the price so there is that.
Those 22” travel griddles look freaking amazingly portable for outside events use like camping or tailgating.
For home use I wish a 48” one was available so I could really get all “Beni Hanna” with it👍.
