Spatchcock or beer can chicken


 
I have that same hanging contraption for my WSM and I’ve only used it for ribs. Need to hang some birds from it. 👍
Hang em' High Greg! Take the water pan out - but put in the lower grate if you're worried about the bird dropping in the coals. This method works nicely with any sort of seasoning on the chicken.

ive determined I prefer to hang chicken, this photo is turkey breast which turned out good but chicken is outstanding. The dark meat gets done exactly the way I want it since its slightly more exposed to the heat with dark side down

What are the benefits or differences between hanging and vertical roaster?

Thanks for people for posting those hangers, I've never seen those before.
