Howdy, y'all.

I'm Tim Evans. I live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and I recently purchased a copper 22" OTG. I've owned a Spirit E-310 for about 7 or 8 years (If you know the serial number, is there any way to find out when it was manufactured?), but I was lured into the charcoal world by that great smell and the challenge of charcoal over gas. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking sides--I love both my children equally!

My wife thinks I'm crazy because I've gotten obsessed with grilling in the past month or so. As soon as I can get this charcoal temp thing under control, I plan to start becoming obsessed with smoking on the OTG.
 
I think that luring great smell might be my fault. The wind has been blowing a little to the southeast lately. Welcome aboard.
 
Welcome to the group Tim. Keep in mind that with a kettle it takes very few lit charcoal to keep you in the low'n'slow range. I usually light 3-4 lumps with a torch and go from there with the minion method. Bottom vents about 1/8 open and the top vent about 1/3 open. Have fun with it.

Welcome Tim. In all honesty, your wife is correct, you are crazy :)
