I'm doing another torture test on mine, but only because it's been very cold and I don't feel like cleaning it, but I'm still using it several times a week. I finally had to empty the bottom tray out though. When I pulled it out, it was completely, and I mean completely full. I have several inches of ash in the bottom of the grill itself, but the drain holes are still very much opened. The only issue that I've come across when not cleaning it for a long time though, is that the burn pot has a couple of times gotten so full of bridged ash that it has smothered out the initial flame and given me a flame out. A tap on the grate in the burn pot knocks it all down and then all is good and it fires back up just fine. Might be a good idea to at least do that every so often. I haven't taken the time to see if it correlates with any particular pellets or their amount of ash build up. I would imagine that different brands would have different ash characteristics, just as charcoal does.
