Smaller ring for the 22.5" WSM

More of a re-purpose than a mod. Found this in a heavy metal recycling dumpster at the job-site. There were about a dozen of them crushed a flattened out and this was the only round one.

It's SS and has a spot welded seam. I don't know what it was used for, never seen one before, and the trades on the job were HVAC, fitters, sparkies,and plumbers.

I think it will work for a smaller ring for the big-boy.

So I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but it should work..no?
Any thoughts on what it is?

Should work great, if it doesn't hit the bottom of the pan. Great score. Keep your eyes open for more and make some spare change on the side. Bet you could sell these bad boys.

The size looks fine.. I would ask around to make sure it was not exposed to gases with chemicals.. or may want to do a burn without food to burn off any potential chemical residues.

To use less charcoal on shorter cooks, or you could also add less charcoal to the original ring and do the same.

Tim, that basket will be fine. I made one along the same lines using expanded mesh. It now works in my 18 but at the time I had the 22 and was looking to create more height and less diameter for the same reasons.
