Seasonings

I have pretty much exhausted all my seasonings. I did order some of KCMikes trial packs. Was wondering what your favorite seasonings are that can be bought and what you use them on

Fresh ground peppercorn, kosher salt, granulated garlic powder, paprika and onion powder. I put that sh*t on everything.

Sometimes I kick it up with crushed red pepperflake, or mustard powder, curry...depending on what its going on. Brown sugar to, I use that on ribs.

I use exactly what Scott said on a lot of different things, coincidentally.

And as tacky as it first seemed to me, I really enjoy the taste of McCormick's Grill Mates Montreal Steak seasoning. I buy the bulk shaker from Costco and have been using it for my last 3 or 4 tri tips. Also used it on some NYs and some rib eyes. Goes over very well. Simple, but good.

But if I'm putting something together, it's garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, fresh ground pepper.

I have seen Wolfe seasonings a lot but dont look like they can be bought anymore. Speaking of Curry made some curry chicken last night. Very good. Dont know why I dont make curry dishes more often. I am wanting to try something differant than the usual stuff I use. All my rubs and other stuff are gone and would be a good time to try something differant.

I don't think you have exhausted your seasonings you just need to make your own. I use the store bought mixes occasionally but it is fun to experiment and make your own rub. The basics I use are garlic pepper, paprika, ground cumin, Lawry's season salt, onion and garlic powder. Adjust them to the way you like it, Turbinado sugar to sweeten things up, cayenne pepper to heat things up. If all else fails just start looking up rubs on this site and it will give you alot of them.
Good Luck

Was looking at spicebarn.com. Could spend a fortune there. Getting ready to be laid off work after 28 yrs. Job going overseas. Need to watch my money. That is why i was looking for ready maid spices. Cheaper to buy all ready mixed.

I would suggest anyone not familiar with it to start off using it lightly.

Brian, many cheap rubs may include alot of cheap ingredients. Very expensive salt! Buy good quality fresh spices...they go a long way.
