Scored me a Performer

I am done with gas. I had a 22" Kettle many years back so my eye was to find a good deal on a Performer on Craigslist and I found one better than my expectations. Looks great next to my WSM and I love the fact that the table shares now for both. A lot of experimenting ahead.

My eyes are on a Slow N Sear but I do not see many here using one. I would like to hear some feedback.

Also where are you guys routing your probe wires? On my WSM I did the slot in the middle section per the tips page here and I love it but I am worried about doing it on the kettle lid.

Nice looking Performer Ray. You're going to love cooking on that baby. As for routing the probe wires, I just run them under the lid. I've been running them that way for over a year now and haven't had any problems. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.

Nice score. I just cut a small notch in the rim of the kettle with my dremel taped off the area so it wouldn't t chip out. Done that on both performers and both WSMs works great. FYI I made the cut on the backside of the table, about the 4 o'clock position if you're standing at the back of the table looking toward the kettle so the wires didn't interfere with the table usage.

Great performer Ray and the second best Weber a WSM great family, I have never cut the lip on my performer but i did on the WSM I just run the wires under the lip as i do not do many low and slows on the performer, but i did just update to the metal table and love it. Need to get the new style bale next.
