Scored a Cute Little 2 Burner

In all seriousness though just something to be aware of. Seems some people in this hobby end up over collecting and not getting around to restoring and eventually end up giving up. Sometimes it's good to remind yourself to have a balance of unrestored to restored grills

I had quite a few at one point and it was starting to get overwhelming for me. I ended up finishing all my flip grill restorations and selling them off and I'm now im just concentrating on my own personal grill Restorations. Keeping my number of grills down to a reasonable amount.

I hear you 5x5. I’m not a flipper. I’ve surpassed what I need for personal grills I’ll restore, but will remain open to very nice grills and rare specimens… and the occasional freebie.

I have not done a good job of keeping things in check. It can definitely become a fever. I never faced the reality of the time commitment my multiple jobs require and the resentment my wife has of what little time I try to find to work on my grills. So, I am perilously close to the situation you described. I have at least tried to shutoff the intake since my last "capstone" acquisition of my keeper (though not done) Vieluxe. I am making some job changes that I hope will make this summer better for moving out some inventory and lightening the load. But, I have said that in the past...

I wish I could swing by and buy at least a few from you!

If there was a Grill Restoration Hall of Fame you'd be number one on the list Jon. 🏆

I wish your wife was more understanding of your hobby. I know my wife has things that she likes that are important to her and I try to support her and promote relationship equality. Also she likes to eat the food that I make on my grills and enjoys the fact that she doesn't have to cook all the time for our family.

I'm really hoping that in the future you'll have more time for your grill hobby and your wife may be more understanding and supportive. I always enjoy seeing your beautiful work and hope to see more.

Thanks so much, Josh! While I think my wife could be a little more supportive, some of my stupid acquisitions have given her plenty of reason to complain.

Once, when back in Florida, I had the opportunity to move my unfinished grills from our small backyard on the crowded not-for-profit campground community I managed (along with being the Finance Director for). An old unusable block house made for at least storage out of the sun and rain and wasn't too far from our home. My older son got conscripted to help move my overflow and at one point said to my wife, "Why couldn't Dad have just collected stamps!" :coolkettle:

I think this is what you meant to say! lol

I grab any freebie that is close. Those are where I have scored some pretty cherry parts. Scrapping them out is easy and quick enough. If it has a good frame, some good Z bars/tables. Grease trays. Especially on the x000 and older grills. One road side freebie had a mint control panel, and grease tray. Those are always worth seeing if the grease tray is good!

Yes... that's much more accurate. Always a good idea to stockpile the parts.
