That’s what I will do with my new Spider Huntsman which is similar in construction:For my offset smoker, which is more of a matte finish I use food grade mineral oil. It is used in food processing plants all over the country to service, clean and protect metal. It is safe to be around food and the result is spectacular. Wipe everything down using a Scott's paper shop cloth with just plain water. Once it dries go over it with a thin coat of food grade mineral oil.
It would be nice to send those flat top lids to have the porcelain redone. I know it's not cheap but I don't think anything else is going to fix that. That’s what I will do with my new Spider Huntsman which is similar in construction:

I am hoping this product will bring some positive results for faded gas grill hoods and kettles. My Weber Flat Top will make a great test case:

No doubt about that, but not in my budget. I know Jeff at IPC would make it better than new, but it is going to be a cooker - not a museum piece. In any case, it will be an interesting test!It would be nice to send those flat top lids to have the porcelain redone. I know it's not cheap but I don't think anything else is going to fix that.
Looks like the very dark gray vs. black. One of my first restores had the mica hood. I believe it was a special color for Target.EdYoungs in Williamsville NY has recently listed two new SilverB black lids on their site for a little over $100 each.
Probably one of the best fixes for Weber fade !?View attachment 101447
