Salt Plate on the grill

anyone have experience with using a salt plate on the grill? I'm very intrigued by this item which is all the rage these days. I've read reviews where some have successfully used on the grill while others have had the plate to break.
 
I was interested at one time but high initial cost and short life span "disinterested" me quite quickly.
 
I got one for Christmas over a year ago and still haven't used it. My wife wants to see me use mine very soon so I will give it a test run and then have the kids over for diner cooked on it. Will Post pics when I do. That said, the concept is great and the expense is not bad. Go for it. IMHO
