A whole lot of wood was blown over during the '06 <STRIKE>Rosie O'Donnel</STRIKE> Hannukah Day storm. I spotted some downed trees just above I-5 near Tukwila. After a quick online consultation of photos and descriptions, I identified the trees as alder. Drove back, scooped it up and drove home with 12 feet of alder poking out of the rear hatch of the Wrangler. I stood it upright in the driveway for 6 months before I chunked it. It turned out pretty good. I got some maple in the same manner. Still haven't got my hands on oak, yet.
As I stated in another post, I've got some chunked fig and cherry wood that needs to be air dried. I have no room for that. Anyone wanting to pick this wood up should email me. I've got a 45 gallon garbage can filled with the stuff which I'll have to discard otherwise.
