Today my new respirator came in . It's probably not the highest professional grade being $23 from Amazon but I'm sure it's better than the simple paper mask I had been using. I also bought some painters socks to keep all the soot off my hair and beard. Thanks to everyone on the form for reminding me about safety with this hobby. I'm ready to hit another cookbox!20250809_104154.jpg20250809_104655.jpg

Let us know how that works with fogging on the inside of the mask. I prefer the one without the built in masks because once I get hot and really sweaty, they always seem to fog up.

Hi Cody, I used it for about 4 hrs today with a few short breaks but some stretches lasting at least an hour. I did frame sanding with an orbital sander and endcap prep with an angle grinder with wire wheels and a drill with a wire brush. It was not too hot out today - about 84 degrees. The good news it did not have any fogging. The downside is it doesn't work well with glasses but I think I can get used to . The mask and painters head sock had a bunch of soot on them. Here's a shot of the filter after today. Definitely some soot. These endcaps had really baked on crude. I can see why the gold standard is media blasting.
