RUST

My 2008 WSM looks (and works) great with all of my recents mods except for the fact my vent rivets are rusty. Does anynone know the best way to solve this problem? Can you purchase new vents and mounting hardware from Weber? I realize this is just a cosmetic issue but I am extremely OCD about all of my grills.

You can buy new vents and when you do, they come with a nut, bolt and I think a washer. I'm pretty OCD too so I took the Weber supplied nut/bolt to the hardware store and matched it up with the same thing in stainless. I love stainless.

OCD Its what Jeff K has. For that matter, just about anyone on this site has it in one form or another.

i have it when i clean or rebuild a used weber. i clean everything and i replace all hardware with ss stuff.
as to the rusty rivet, i would just drill it out and go get some ss hardware. i think its 1/4 that ya need. to make the nut stay on the bolt/screw, just bang on the bolt thread a little with a hammer. it lightly jams the nut so it stys in place.

Jim,

A lot of younger folks have OCD. I used to but as I've become more ancient I now have DGAH (Don't Give a Hoot).
