Hello fellow Weber enthusiasts. It has been a few months since my last post, but just had to share my story.
While heading to the driving range last night I spotted on the side of the road the distinctive profile of a Weber charcoal grill hood. After nearly locking up the brakes and doing two U-turns to circle back the homeowner confirmed it was indeed set out for the trash. I proceeded to unload a mountain of baseball equipment, golf clubs, etc. to make room in the van.
What made its way home was a Performer series -- post stainless table and pre gas assist with the charcoal bucket underneath. It needs new grates, a massive cleaning and a full bag of charcoal to cook off whatever may be left after the cleaning. My thinking was to clean it as is, and then dissemble to the bones to super clean. Everything is there and feels very solid.
A few questions to those who may have encountered the same level of grease, grime and stains.

- Any suggestions of how to best clean the composite table of the rust stains, grease, grime, etc.? My wife suggested a Mr. Clean sponge with a cleaner de-greaser after power washing.
- Any recommendations of how to stop the rust that is forming around the handle posts -- both inside and out? Anyone have a preferred brand or style of paint that could aid in this effort?
- The wire loop lid holder -- the way the loop attaches to the bracket seems incorrect, see picture. Is this correct?
