RIBFEST 2010!

Great barbecue, Jim!!! Very positive, everything: beautiful place, nice weather, nice Maddie, cold Miller high life beer, wonderful smell of meat ... Ideal atmosphere in your LampeLand. Good luck there. THX

Wow Jim! Looks Awesome! I think I could smell your ribs cooking all the way up here in Baraboo. Is this an annual event?

thanks guys

ya know Chris, this is the first time I've done it, butt maybe it should be an annual event... the last weekend in June.

Well done again Jim. Always enjoy your posts...and always have questions!

-Can you tell me about your thermometer, the Tel-Tru? Did you install that to replace the one that comes with the smoker? Or did you have the older version that didn't have one installed?

I'm getting my bullet any day now and am wondering if I can trust the one built-in, or if I replace with one like yours, or do I need to do something to specifically measure grilling surface temp...???

I am really envious of your yard and your dog. I lived in central MN for 8 years so your yard looks very familiar to what I know. Now I'm in San Diego, and there are a ton of great reasons to live here, but yard size is definitely not one of them. We're talking of getting a dog, and we have a big enough yard, but I know she'll never be as happy as yours!

Thanks Jim

w0w Tim... that's a lot... ok
the tel-tru therm is just stuck in one of the vent holes, in the WSM, it "screws" in 'kinda' nicely where it won't fall out. I also use it in my Weber grills. Bought it to perm in the WSM butt decided against it. Too EZ to use in two or 3 different inviorments. (Sic spelling)
Using either therm in my mind is all guess work. I really rely on my history cooks, i.e.; how long it took before , the weight, conditions... I really "freefall", meaning, if i screw something up, hey, no one died, it's only food.
I don't drop a grade ... it's just my dinner. Tomorrow will be better.
as much as Madison goes... lordyLORDY! she was a headache when we 1st got her ... long story can not be told here, butt NOW very happy to have her in this family.
Your pooch Tim, walk AND play as often as possible (EVEN IN RAIN) and sleep close to her/him and never EVER scold or hit your pet and she/he will love you FOREVER!
My 2 cents on dogs/pets.
Thanks Tim, I appreciate your interest!!!

Thanks Jim. Appreciate it as always. Good advice you have here. The only thermometer that seems to be (more or less) fool proof is the thermapen. But one thing I'm learning/deciding is that I need to start taking notes b/c my memory is horrible and I tend to forget what I tried last time and whether or not it worked.

Looks like we may be getting the dog. Our 11 year old is going crazy for one, and I have to admit I want one too. Looking at a lab or rottweiler, though don't think I'll get far with that suggestion

Rotts get a bad rep though. All the ones I've known have been super super friendly and kind to the family members...it's just the strangers they don't like. And that's fine by me!

Thanks Jim
