Rib Rub for this Weekend

Hey Guys,

Its going to be my second time smoking some baby backs this weekend. First time I used the BRITU rub and the ribs were very good.

This time I want to try another rub. I am in search of a good overall rib rub that will satisfy and impress everyone.

Should put the rub on overnight, or couple of hours before smoking.

I will be using the minion method on the 22.5, smoke 2 hours, 1 hour foil and 1 hour without foil. Lastly I want to sauce the last half hour.

Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated. Also, If anything in my process looks to be incorrect, I would appreciate advice on that as well.

Thanks

I mix my own rubs. I put it on about an hour before I put them in the smoker.

What temperature are you cooking at?

My friends seem to really like the grill mates pork rub when I cook spares. After trimming your ribs, rub liberally while your wsm gets up to temp. I use water in the pan, 225 for 5-6 hours, sauce 20 minutes prior to pulling. The grill mates was easy, being new at this I wanted to concentrate on the smoke. You have a ton of options, everyone on the site is great, very supportive.

Tough question: too many rub recipes along with too many tastes. I've never seen a recipe that didn't claim that it was the best. I have three rack of St Louis cut spares I rubbed with three different rubs last night and placed in the fridge now for today's cook.

I'm too late to influence your cook last weekend, but I will third Memphis dust. My change is to sub half the paprika with ancho to kick it up just a bit
