Any suggestions on rib racks for the WSm 18.5? I have the combo rib/roast rack from weber, but it really doesn't fit to well. Planning a first annual rib fest in my backyard in a few week and want to maximize my space. Thanks!
1) I would recommend rolling (coiling) over a rib rack
2) If you must have a rib rack, the Brinkman seems to be a good choice
3) I have the Weber 6605 and I cannot recommend that rack because the bottom bars are too far apart to support a 1/2 rack.
I end up using carefully placed skewers to keep the racks from falling through.
6605 is a nice, clean design...too bad they messed up on the spacing.
Here's a typical rack, cut in half and you can see that they are barely able to make the span of the 6605 bottom bars...
I have a couple of Brinkman rib racks I bought for my Mini-Joe. As it turns out, they not only are a perfect fit for the Mini-Joe but they work just as well in the 14.5 and the 18.5. Doing half racks all of the time now. The reason is simple - I get perfectly evenly cooked ribs. No more overcooked ends.
Unless you're going to foil during the cook, I'm with Joe. I'd ROLL 'em. I'm smoking six slabs of spares on my 18 this weekend at a family get together.
